Tarangire Treetops sits serenely in a private game reserve bordering the Tarangire National Park.

Centered about a main lodge, which itself encases a thousand year-old baobab tree, Tarangire Treetops comprises 20 treehouses all of which are perched high above the ground in the broad boughs of marula and baobab trees.

Activities include a tour to a Masai village which is about 20-30 minutes’ drive from Treetops and gives a perfect insight to the life of the Masai; a boma dinner under the stars in a traditional Masai boma whilst enjoying the dancing and singing of Masai menfolk; day game drives in Tarangire National Park which is famous for its huge number of elephants, baobab trees and tree climbing lions.

On these drives through the park you can expect to see any number of resident zebra and wildebeest in addition to animals such as waterbuck, giraffe, and olive baboons.   

A walking safari, always an exhilarating adventure, is conducted in the company of an experienced guide and offers an up close opportunity to discover more about both fauna and flora.

Home to more than 550 species, the park is a haven for bird enthusiasts who can expect so see dozens of species even in the dry season.   The swamps are the focus of the largest selection of breeding birds anywhere in the world.   Yellow-collared Lovebirds are a common sighting in the trees along the Tarangire River.

Sanctuary Swala has been built to the highest eco-friendly standards and offers 12 luxurious open-plan and spacious canvas tents; all shaded by acacia trees and within site of the waterhole frequented by elephants and big cats. Each tent has an ensuite bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower and features a spacious open plan arrangement with comfortable king or twin beds, campaign chairs and plush sofas.

A hair dryer, ceiling fan, in room safe, mosquito nets and private deck are available in all tents. Each tent has a personal attendant to attend to guests’ every need. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the main area and in all guests’ tents.

The main dining area, deck and library are lifted on stilts around an enormous and ancient baobab tree. Electricity supply is a combination of silent packed generator and battery system allowing 24-hour power supply
