Beho Beho was the first camp to be sited in The Selous Game Reserve (now Nyerere National Park), not on the banks, or the flood plains of the mighty Rufiji River, but in the cooler highlands so as to enjoy the 'cooling breezes' from which its name derives. Always designated as a 'private camp' it has fiercely protected its individuality and privileged location as one of the most 'magical' places it is possible to visit in safari Africa.
Beho Beho is not really a camp in the true sense of the word, as it has individual bandas or stone built, palm-leaf thatched cottages, rather than the tented accommodation one might more readily associate with a camp. But also it is not really a safari lodge as it has only eight bandas, four on one side of the main house and four on the other, one tends to think of a safari lodge in terms of something quite a good bit larger. So we like to think of Beho Beho as being more of a home, a very private home situated in the middle of the African bush.
Owned by the Bailey family for over forty years, they are now prepared to share their 'home in the bush' with a fortunate few who are able to share their enjoyment of Beho Beho, one of their favourite places in the world.

Intimate Camp Zebra’ is named after the Zebra which follow the Wildebeest during their world-famous annual migration. Like the animal it is named after, the camp follows the Wildebeest to the Northern part of the Serengeti National Park between July and November and to the Southern part of the Serengeti eco-system from December until March. The camp is closed from April until the end of June each year.
‘Intimate Camp Zebra’ has been operating in the Serengeti for the best part of two decades. As a result, the company has fostered very close working relationships with the parks authorities and this in turn has resulted in the camp always being allocated the very best seasonal campsites available, both in Kogatende as well as in Ndutu.
The camp consists of 10 accommodation tents to include two 2-bedroomed family units, each of which can be used for single, double or triple occupancy. Each sleeping tent consists of a bedroom area, dressing area and ensuite shower and toilet. As an added convenience, each tent is provided with electricity for lighting as well as for charging mobile telephones, cameras, tablets, laptop computers or any other electronic devices our guests may carry with them. This electricity is harvested from the sun’s rays via a solar system.
The lounge and dining tents, which are new for the 2023 season, are comfortably laid out for rest and relaxation when guests are taking a break from exciting game drives. Coffee table books, board games, a writing bureau and wireless internet connectivity are all provided to ensure that their every need is catered for. Evenings are spent around the all-important campfire exchanging stories about the day’s events and making plans for the days ahead.
‘Intimate Camp Zebra’ has a well-stocked bar which serves a selection of wines, spirits, beers and minerals, the cost of which is included in the accommodation rates. Friendly camp staff are also delighted to assist guests with their laundry requirements, also without extra charge.
The main emphasis of the activities available at the camp is the viewing of the extraordinary Wildebeest migration which is one of the "Seven Natural Wonders of Africa" as well as the single largest mass movement of animals on the planet. That said, there are many other forms of wildlife and birdlife which can be viewed during the course of game drives in most parts of the Serengeti National Park and these are further enhanced by some of the most spectacular nature to be seen anywhere on the African continent. Depending upon the location of the camp at any given moment, guests are also able to participate in Balloon Safaris although arrangements for this need normally to be made prior to their arrival in Tanzania.
With almost two decades experience operating camps in the different national parks making up the Northern Safari circuit of Tanzania, Intimate places has developed very strict policies and procedures with regards to the protection of the fragile environments in which we operate. All of these can also be found in practice at Intimate Camp Zebra.

Dunia, in Tanzania’s central Serengeti, is well placed for wildlife spotting. During the annual Great Migration, guests can watch giant herds of wildebeest moving through the area right from camp.
Farther afield, you may spot lions using the granite boulders of Moru Kopjes to scan the plains for prey.
Eight spacious tents overlook the Serengeti National Park’s vast golden plains. Kick back on your private terrace or in the open-sided main tent with a chilled G&T and enjoy the peace and stillness. Opt to start your day soaring over the plains in a hot-air balloon and end it dining under the stars in the bush.
Our hospitable staff will do everything to ensure your comfort. Dunia is the only camp in Africa run entirely by women and the team is an inspirational example of what women can achieve in a male-dominated industry.

Meaning ‘endless plains’ in the Maasai language, the Serengeti is undoubtedly one of the world’s most celebrated wilderness areas. Lemala Nanyukie is located a 60-minute drive east of the Seronera Airstrip in the park’s central region, and is superbly located with outstanding views across these fascinating ‘endless plains’. The camp itself sits on a grassy savanna dotted with rocky kopjes and shaded by ancient giant acacia trees.
This area of the Serengeti is crossed by the thrilling wildlife spectacle of the annual wildebeest migration, but also has high-density game-viewing at all times and is well-known for its large concentration of cats, so much so that until recently this area was set aside for scientific research into predators, especially cheetah. As such, Lemala Nanyukie is open year-round, and safari activities like game drives and walks will be accompanied by Lemala’s highly-knowledgeable and experienced guides.

For guests seeking an authentic African adventure, a visit to Ruaha National Park is essential.
Remembered for the rapids of the Great Ruaha River and its rugged landscape of undulating hills, rocky outcrops, and a horizon studded with the imposing silhouettes of the iconic baobab; no other park in Tanzania epitomises the definition of "Wild Africa" quite like Ruaha.
Whilst being the largest National Park in Tanzania, Ruaha also holds a special significance as it covers a unique transition zone where the Eastern and Southern biomes intersect offering an extraordinary diversity of animals, plants and birds. There are upwards of 570 species of birds. Indeed, half of all Tanzania’s birds may be glimpsed in this park, making it one of the continents premier birding destinations.
Ruaha also holds one of the greatest populations of elephant in any African park. Buffalo gather in large herds, as well as giraffe, zebra, impala, eland, hippo, crocodile, lion and leopard. The rarer, lesser-seen creatures can also be found, including sable and roan antelope, dikdik, greater and lesser kudus, Grants gazelle and honey badgers. It is second only to Nyerere National Park (former Selous Game Reserve) for the largest population of wild dog. Let our experienced guides show you the wealth of biodiversity Ruaha has to offer, with game drives, game walks and walking safaris / fly camping (seasonal).

Witness the early morning mist rise on the banks of Lake Masek.
From the private terrace of your tent you can observe the wildlife of the area. Many animals visit the lake in search of water and therefore this camp is in a privileged observation point.
Besides, this area is the principle setting of the Great Migration which takes place from December to April and the Big Five visit the area. The camp is set-up every year in a different part of the area, to make sure that you will always have the best place to see this impressive spectacle from your own tent.
In addition, the camp is ecological without losing in comfort and attention. The electricity is generated by solar panels and the water is rain water collected during the rains. All the products used are biodegradables.
Each tent is built on a raised wooden platform with a verandah from which guests can observe the wildlife visiting Lake Masek.
The bedroom area is ample and tastefully furnished. The bathroom area with twin washbasins, a standalone bath and an outside shower is separated from the bedroom area by way of a screen, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing bath or take a shower under the stars.
The main house has a lounge and dining area and a large verandah overlooking the lake.
The lounge is decorated with comfortable sofas and armchairs grouped together to create intimacy, and meals are served in the dining area or on the verandah from which you can enjoy uninterrupted views of Lake Masek.
There are 4x4 vehicles based at the camp offering fantastic game drives in the area. Bush breakfasts and/or cocktails can be arranged in private areas of the park upon request.
The camp is located one-hour drive from the important Olduvai archaeological site where the Leakeys made important discoveries. This is a visit that you should not miss.
Also, escorted hikes give you an extraordinary opportunity to walk together with a very experienced Masai Guide who will introduce you to their culture and everyday activities. A visit to a Masai house (boma) can be arranged as well.
During the migration season balloon safaris can be arranged.

Kilindi Zanzibar, comprising of a series of white-domed Pavilion guest rooms all set in 50 acres of lush tropical gardens, is a rarity in the world of luxury boutique hotels. Originally designed for Benny Andersson - one of the members of the 1970s pop group ABBA - Kilindi is a true blend of the very best of diverse cultures to be found in Tanzania and on its adjacent island of Zanzibar.
Kilindi achieves the perfect marriage between Scandinavian minimalism and the dramatic architectural overtones of Middle Eastern heritage, whilst encouraging an open, back-to-nature ambiance throughout.
In each of the Pavilion suites, white wooden-slatted shutters embrace wide-arched glassless windows each affording spectacular views over the Indian Ocean. This same openness allows the gentle ocean breeze to waft throughout each of the rooms and carry with it the delightful soundtrack of Kilindis colourful birdlife. Any stay at Kilindi will be a delight for the senses.
Kilindis open-to-nature approach provides the true essence to any stay and crafts a private, intimate and barefoot appeal that so many crave. If you love nature, you will adore Kilindi.
A waterfall bar with the Main Pavilion overlooks a large 25-metre infinity pool which itself affords views out across the sparkling warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Dining takes place either on the alfresco terrace or even along the pristine white beach, which runs the length of the property.
15 eastern-styled domed Pavilions nestling amongst a 35-acre tropical garden are the perfect and intimate retreat for each and every guest.
The Pavilions have their very own private plunge pool, and possess a separate but extraordinary rainfall shower room which is annexed to each of the Pavilion rooms. These same showers provide not only a spectacular view to the Ocean but the liberating sensation of being at one with nature.
With each Pavilion set in its own private tropical gardens and served by a dedicated butler, privacy is guaranteed. It is this same dedicated butler who will offer you a wide selection of places to enjoy your breakfast, lunch and dinner. And should our guests wish to leave the oasis of tranquility and calm of their private Pavilion, the butler can help, advise and arrange as to the many activities and excursions that Kilindi and the island can offer.
Kilindi Zanzibar is certainly a rarity and one that will reward all those who venture to experience all that it has to offer. A favourite with honeymooners and lovers, any stay at Kilindi will not only become a memory of a lifetime, but also the standard to surpass.

Offering an intimate, uninterrupted bush experience, Siwandu is perfect for forgetting all the troubles of the modern world and immersing oneself in unspoilt nature, with just the right amount of bush luxury.
Sheltered in a grove of palms on the shores of Lake Nzerakera, part of the watery byways of the Rufiji River system, Siwandu is perfectly situated to experience fully the breathtaking landscape and abundant wildlife of the Nyerere National Park (formerly known as the Selous Game Reserve).
An area of 30,893 km2 (11,928 sq mi) in the northern part of the well-known Selous Game Reserve, just South of Dar es Salaam, was portioned off for inclusion in TANAPA’s portfolio of national parks in 2019. It is now one of the world’s largest wildlife sanctuaries at twice the size of Belgium.
Nyerere has over 2,100 species of plants, in excess of 400 varieties of birds, more than half of Tanzania’s elephant population and over 120,000 buffalos. The Parks 40,000 hippo and 4,000 lion are probably the largest populations on the continent; not to mention the fact that it is home to the planet’s largest population of rare wild dogs. This resplendence gives guests a rare opportunity to glimpse all of these animals in truly unspoilt landscape.

Lemala Ngorongoro is intimately set in a delightful ancient acacia forest close to the rim of the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater. As it is located next to the quiet Lemala crater access road on the eastern side, a key advantage of staying at Lemala Ngorongoro is the quick and easy drive down on to the crater floor in the morning; Lemala guests usually have an hour’s head start over others descending via the far busier Seneto crater access road on the western rim. And of course can stay later in the afternoon before returning to camp. As Africa’s game is most active in the early morning and late afternoon this means better wildlife experiences for Lemala guests.
Game drives from camp may start as early as 6.15am and guests can be down among Ngorongoro’s abundant wildlife on the floor within 10-15 minutes – crucial for photographers who demand the best light conditions. Escorted walks are also available into the forest and along the crater rim with an armed ranger and Maasai guide.

The Manor at Ngorongoro, located in the north west Tanzania and with its 9 luxurious cottages (18 Suites), family cottage, and magnificent main Manor House, is one of the first safari lodges of its kind to blend East African hospitality with old-world Afro-European architecture and decor. Located adjacent to the famous Ngorongoro conservation area and within a 1500-acre Arabica coffee estate, The Manor is reminiscent of an elegant up-country farm home in the Cape Dutch-style of architecture.
Every detail of The Manor has been designed with its guests’ comfort in mind. Each of the cottages has been carefully positioned to maximise the views of the adjacent verdant hills but at the same time to maintain the intimacy and privacy of this old-world Manor home.
The Manor at Ngorongoro provides the perfect environment to relax and take in the outstanding natural beauty of its gardens and the coffee-bush laden hills. However the drama that is Africa is but a short distance away.
Ngorongoro Crater is famed as being the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World’, and is a ‘must see’ on anyone’s itinerary. This extinct volcano - with its 18-kilometre wide crater floor - is home to an abundant and unique ecosystem that encompasses almost all of the wildlife that you would wish to see in Africa. This spectacular setting is a ‘once-in-a- lifetime’ opportunity to experience the rawness and beauty of Africa’s natural flora and fauna.
And what better way to enjoy the Crater than in the knowledge that at the end of the day you will return to enjoy an incomparable dinner in The Manor’s restaurant followed by a deeply restful night in a cottage that has been designed both with your comfort solely in mind.

NATURE IS A DRINK BEST TAKEN NEAT. BEING OUT THERE IN THE IMMENSITY OF A CHADA NIGHT, GIVES YOU GALLONS OF THIS INTOXICATING LIQUOR.
It’s a deeply respected tradition at Chada to escape from main camp and sleep out in the real middle of nowhere. It’s what we LOVE doing. There is no place in the world that feels like Katavi and nothing gets you quite as close to that feeling than fly camping.
We send an advance party out to pitch camp and walk you in for couple of hours, to arrive just before sunset. The trick is to leave as much as possible behind: stuff, other people, current affairs. This is your chance to see Katavi like we did before we had a “proper” camp. (Some may argue this is the "proper" camp.)
There’s a million wild acres of Katavi to head into, where humans hardly ever venture. Part of our skill is keeping you safe in such a wild place, the other is picking the perfect campsite, beside open floodplains, under the shadiest trees, for the widest stretch of night-sky.

Internationally renowned for the greatest wildlife spectacle on the planet, The Serengeti National Park located in north west Tanzania is the ultimate ‘wildlife show’ on earth. Across the globe authors and filmmakers have come to document the Annual Migration of hundreds of thousands of animals, but there is still only one way to understand and experience the true magnificence of this natural phenomena and that is to be part of it.
Serengeti Migration Camp is the embodiment of the ‘camp’ experience. Located next to the famous Grumeti River which is home to resident hippos that bark and wallow their days away, Serengeti Migration Camp has become synonymous with low-impact high-action game viewing in a landscape that is untouched since the dawn of time.
Hidden among the rocky outcrops Serengeti Migration Camp is located at the starting point of the Migration. Comprising of 20 luxurious elevated tents, each with spacious and richly furnished bedrooms, Serengeti Migration Camp blends seamlessly into the environment.
Each of the tents is surrounded by its own 360-degree verandah deck, which in turn creates your very own private sanctuary to enjoy the constant game sightings and the ever-present sounds of the bush.
The main tent has a split-level lounge, a swimming pool, restaurant and viewing platforms that offer views across the river and the rugged landscape beyond. But it is the drama and proximity of the wild, which takes the experience of this camp to an altogether higher level.
Whether it is walking safaris with experienced and highly knowledgeable guides or the sensation of being as close to nature’s daily fight for survival, the sensory feast that accompanies any visit to Serengeti Migration Camp will no doubt rival anything experienced before.

Dramatic savannah storms sweep in nourishment and new life, and an innate primordial urge pulls the wildebeest to the site of their origins to reproduce. The plains literally come to life for the birthing season. Millions of gnus and zebra dominate the landscape, looking for the fresh green grass that follows the first rains – and to give birth to their young.

With views of the Kilimajaro and the endless plains of the African savannah, Kambi ya Tembo is a spectacular camp situated on the north face of the Kilimanjaro with fantastic views of Amboseli and where one can enjoy the wildlife in the front line.
The camp is located in Sinya, a 600 square kilometres concession which offers incomparable scenery with magnificent views of the Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru and the Ol Doinyo Longido and Ol Doinyo Orok peaks. It is one of the only places in Africa where one can observe large bull elephants more than 50 years old with enormous tusks.
The Maasai settlements, known as “bomas”, are scattered around Sinya. The Maasai in Sinya continue to live traditionally, dressed in their colourful blankets and celebrating their traditional ceremonies. They aren’t as used to seeing tourists more common in other areas visited by visitors.

NIGHTS OUT OF CAMP AND UNDER THE STARS ARE OUR MOST COMPLETE EXPRESSION OF HOW NOMAD RELATES TO WILDERNESS.
It’s very simple. If you really want to connect with the African bush, just put yourself right out there. Because we know the bush, and we know what’s safe and what’s comfortable, we can make this happen. We desert the lodge and walk with you into the big beyond. The further we go, the deeper the wilderness, the bigger it feels.
At some point, we come upon our camp-out spot and home for one night. There’s a murmur of voices, the fire is lit. It feels secure and cosy, though we know that only the finest line is drawn between us and wild Africa.
In our fly-camps we strip away all but the basic neccessities to get you as close to the Africa wilderness as you’ll ever want to be. We give you safety and comfort, a proper, sweet sleep under the stars, and a major bucket-list experience.

Dozens of species of birds abound in the area.
